At this afternoon's press conference, Governor Brown, Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Department of Education released the county health metrics that will determine our school district's ability to open our schools for face-to-face instruction. You can access those metrics here: https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/DISEASESCONDITIONS/DISEASESAZ/Emerging%20Respitory%20Infections/Ready-Schools-Safe-Learners-Community-COVID-19-Metrics.pdf
Based on the information released today, Stanfield SD will be starting the school year online utilizing a Comprehensive Distance Learning model. This reality weighs really heavy on my heart, and I know how disappointing this is for the Stanfield school community. I am operating with the best information I have at this time, and I know that families need time to plan and adjust. We will spend the remaining weeks prior to September 8th planning for a far more robust program than we were able to put forward last spring on such short notice.
Though we will be starting the year online, we will be planning in the background for bringing students into our buildings as soon as the opportunity presents itself. We know that students learn best when they are in the classroom with their teachers in person and we will be ready to greet students in the building as soon as our county case rates allow us to come back.
We are just starting our planning for Comprehensive Distance Learning and will release plans and updates as we have them. Be sure to check our website and Facebook page for the most up-to-date information. In the meantime, stay healthy and safe.
Sincerely,
Beth Burton, Superintendent
