SSS Announcements for April 12
National Honor Society - NHS volunteers are needed for baseball concessions this Friday, starting at 1 PM. See Mrs. Wright to sign up if you can help and get some of your hours completed!
Generation College Meeting - We will have a quick Generation College meeting after announcements for those planning on going on the college trip next week.
Spanish Challenge Test - 8th and 9th graders - if you are fluent in Spanish and have never taken the Spanish challenge test for high school credit, the opportunity to do so is coming up! Next week Tuesday, April 18th, Mrs. Wright will administer the testing in Mrs. Brandhagen's classroom, starting during advisory. Please sign up with Mrs. Wright this week if you plan to test or have any questions.
Oregon Private College Camp - Calling all juniors! As Mrs. Wright has shared with you, you have an awesome opportunity this summer to spend an all-expenses-paid week visiting some of Oregon's private colleges, learning more about and preparing for the college application process, and staying in the dorms at Willamette University. Applications for Oregon Private College Week Camp are online on the GEAR UP website, and also require that Mrs. Wright send in your transcript. The information is on the flyers from Mrs. Wright and posted around school. Please also see her for more info. The deadline to apply is April 14th!
Summer Job Opportunities - Looking for a summer job? Hermiston Foods, Home Depot, the Stanfield McDonald's, and Golden Valley Farms in Stanfield are all looking to hire high school students! See Mrs. Wright for an application and information about these opportunities.
Stanfield Booster Club and Mid-Columbia Bus Company Scholarships - The annual Stanfield Booster Club scholarship application, and the annual Mid-Columbia Bus Company scholarship application, are both now available in the scholarship rack! There will be three $500 scholarships from the Booster Club and two $250 scholarships from Mid-Columbia Bus. Both applications are due the last week of April. Pick them up today!
Softball - The Softball girls will be released at 11:30 on Friday.
Scholarship Deadlines This Week - Seniors: Don't forget that the following scholarships are due the end of this week: Hermiston Lions Club Scholarship, Sister Adele Scholarship, Umatilla County Reduce Underage Drinking Scholarship, Northeast Oregon Home Builders Scholarship, and the Umatilla-Morrow County Farm Bureau Scholarship.
BMCC Student Ambassador Applications - Seniors attending BMCC: there are applications in the scholarship rack to be a BMCC Student Ambassador. This opportunity offers a 12-credit scholarship on top of any additional financial aid you receive. Applications are due by 5 PM on Friday.
Scholarships Due Next Week - Seniors - there are four scholarships coming due next week: The Don Peterson Memorial Scholarship and Stanfield Moose Lodge Scholarship are both due on Monday, April 17th. The Alpha Epsilon and Clara Ramos scholarships are both due on April 19th.
2017 P.E.O. Scholarship - Senior girls - the annual P.E.O. local scholarship is now available in the rack, due on May 8th. Be sure to grab a copy right away! Last year, our very own Melissa Banderas was the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from P.E.O.
Annual GEAR UP Scholarship - Seniors - the annual GEAR UP scholarship is now available! Every Stanfield senior that applies and enrolls in school in the fall will be awarded this scholarship. The deadline is May 15th.
