If you are interested in becoming a Stanfield School District Board of Education Director, each school site and the district office have Candidacy packets that include instructions on how to file, forms needed, and information. We currently will have three (3) seats up for election.

Board members are elected for four-year terms. You must be a registered voter and you must have lived in the district for one year immediately preceding the election. School district employees elected to serve on the board must give up employment with the district to sit on the board.

The filing deadline for a board position is March 16, 2017. Candidates can file with the county clerk in one of two ways:

  • Submit a petition containing the signature of 25 registered voters or 10% of the registered voters in the district, whichever is less. (Form SEL 121) Please note you will need multiple copies of this form in order to reach the required 25 signatures.

  • Submit a declaration of candidacy with a $10 filing fee. (Form SEL 190)

Mail the form or drop the form off at Umatilla County Board of Elections, located at 216 Southeast 4th Street, Suite 18, Pendleton. If you have any questions, they may be reached at 541-278-6254 or elections@umatillacounty.net.

Being a school board member can be both rewarding and challenging, and school boards provide a vital public service for Oregon students. Become involved and run for office.
