Read Across America 2017

The Read Across America, Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration is set for February 27th through March 2nd. The SES Library has fun activities throughout the week for the students to participate in and has challenged the students to double their Accelerated Reader quizzes and words read. 

The Elementary School will kick off the birthday celebration on Monday, February 27th with a Read Across America assembly at 2:30pm in the gym and hold a Family Reading Night with the Cat in the Hat from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. In honor of Dr. Seuss, a special birthday cake will be served during the Family Reading Night. Come join the fun and read with your child.

To add excitement to the Read Across America week there will be fun dress up days throughout the celebration. Tuesday, February 28th will be Tiger Cub Tuesday and Whoville Hair Day, Wednesday, March 1st will be Pajama Day, and on Thursday, March 2ndh (The actual birthday of Dr. Seuss) is Hat Day. Grab a Hat and READ with the Cat!  Delicious Green Eggs and Ham will be served for lunch.

It will be a fabulous week. A week full of READING, SILLINESS, and FUN! From the words of Dr. Seuss, “The more that you read. The more things you will know. The more that you learn. The more places you’ll go.” Make reading important, READ, READ, and READ some more!
