Academic Friday Program

Academic Friday Program

Goal: Extend learning time for students on Friday mornings with a teacher present.

Program Overview: Students who are not meeting proficiency in their classes will be part of the Academic Friday Program (AFP).  Meeting proficiency is considered to be a 70% or higher.  Students with a grade below a 70% will be required to attend the AFP on the Friday of that week.  Students will need to provide their own transportation. Students who are not assigned an AFP are welcome to access the school for academic purposes during these Fridays as well. A Chromebook cart will be available. This system will be based on SEMESTER grades for HS students, and QUARTER grades for Middle School students.

AFP Procedures:

  1. Grade checks will be conducted on Monday morning during the week of the AFP, and AFP forms will be distributed during Advisory Period on that same Monday by each student's Advisor.  Parent(s) will be notified.
  2. Students will have until 4:00pm Thursday of that week to get their grade to a 70% or higher, and have the teacher verify with a signature on the back of this form.  Students will turn the form into their Advisor by Thursday.  They do not need to attend the AF if the signed form is turned in by Thursday.
  3. Students who are not able to complete the AFP form by Thursday will need to attend the AFP on Friday. Students need to bring assignments and be prepared to take assessments at the AFP and work in a productive and professional manner.  When students finish their work, they can leave.
